  • How frequently should I get my carpet cleaned?
    Just like your clothing, carpet needs to be maintained regularly to stay in prime condition. Carpets are contaminated daily from things we track in, body oils, dust, and food & drink, to name a few. Allergens, dust mites, and bacteria love to infest neglected carpet, which can lead to respiratory problems and foul-smelling odors if not addressed in a timely manner. Dirt that is left for prolonged periods of time can settle into carpet fibers causing wear and tear patterns to appear, eventually leading to permanent stains. All that being said, we generally recommend a minimum of two carpet cleanings annually to maintain a clean and healthy home. Ask about our Scotchgard service to help prevent contamination between cleanings and improve the durability and appearance of your carpet. (Fun fact: most carpet manufacturers’ guarantees request some form of protectant applied during cleanings to remain valid. Check yours today!)
  • How long does the carpet take to dry?
    While there is no set answer, typically carpet will dry within 8 to 24 hours depending on the material and the length of the fiber. Increased air circulation and cooler temperatures speed along the process. At Full Steam Ahead, we use high-velocity fans that break the moisture barrier to accelerate the evaporation process.
  • How long will my carpet cleaning last?
    Factors such as maintenance, use, age, and the type of fiber will all influence the longevity of the cleaning. If you would like to ensure that your results last longer, we encourage our customers to get the Scotchgard protectant to act as an invisible barrier between carpet and contaminants.
  • Can I walk on my floors after they’ve been cleaned?
    Surfaces may be walked on immediately after they’ve been cleaned; however, customers should take care moving from damp carpeted areas to hard surfaced ones as the moisture could cause slickness.
  • How will I know when the technician will arrive?
    When you schedule with Full Steam Ahead, you are given a time window in which the technician will arrive in. Due to the nature of the industry, these windows are large; however, we have gone the extra step to provide an additional texting service that will send you an alert 30 minutes prior to your techincian's arrival.
  • Do you move furniture?
    We are happy to move light to medium-sized furniture free of charge! We use sliders to protect your floors while moving, and place furniture on foam blocks or plastic sheets to protect your carpet against staining. We promise to put each piece of furniture back just as we found it. Customers are responsible for moving large or heavy pieces of furniture that cannot be moved safely by the technician prior to the appointment.
  • Are the products you use safe for kids and/or pets?
    At Full Steam Ahead the safety of our technicians and customers is paramount. We carefully select cleaning solutions that are safe to use around both people and animals and that cause no harm to the environment.
  • What kinds of stains can you remove?
    Our technician is proficient at dealing with all kinds of stains and selecting the right cleaning solutions and processes to remove them. It helps if we know what caused the stain and approximately when it formed. We do NOT recommend trying to treat the stain yourself because it can become permanent if not handled in the correct manner. Unfortunately, there are some stains that cannot be removed, but we promise to be upfront and honest with you about the results you can expect before cleaning.
  • Do you offer a guarantee?
